Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen

I loved this book that gives such an in-depth look at circus life during the Depression. Well-developed and endearing characters along with a compelling plot make it very hard to put down. I can't wait to see the movie! Has anyone seen it yet? Was it good?

I highly recommend this novel.

When I was reading the book, I was so engrossed in the circus like the menagerie, the big top and etc.

  3. A man's relives the struggles of his own life amidst the Great Depression in Sara Gruen's intriguing novel, Water for Elephants. Jacob Jankowski resides in an assisted living facility since his family no longer is able to care for him. The circus in town reminds him of his own days working in the chaos of the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. Gruen beautifully connects Jacob's present life to his past memories, leaving the reader anxious to solve the mysteries of the circus and to analyze his current state at the facility.
